10.) The Giant Buddha of Leshan, China
Also commonly referred to as ‘Dafo’, the Giant Buddha of Leshan is located in Sichuan, and is a massive sculpture carved into the side of a mountain. The work is dated back to the 8th century A.D., and is measured at a mind-boggling height of 233 feet tall (71 meters). Created during the Tang Dynasty, the giant Buddha faces Mount Emei and sits peacefully where the Dadu, Qingyi, and Minjiang Rivers, all which flow at the feet of the statue itself. ‘Dafo’ is the largest Buddha on Earth.
