7.) The ‘Plain of Jars’ in Laos
Located in Laos, the ‘Plain of Jars’ is an archeological landscape consisting of groups of large stone jars which are situated in groups which vary in number from a few to hundreds, with the largest groups being found mostly along the lower foothills of the region. The jars are part of the Xieng Khouang Plateau which is located on the Annamese Cordillera’s northern-most end. Those who have studied the mysterious existence of the jars have theorized that they were part of ancient burial rituals, most of which took place during the prehistoric era. The jars, which have been dated back to the Iron Age, are the ideal travel choice for one who wants to discover something incredibly old but amazingly ‘new’.
